MSB Bangalore had the opportunity of taking part in the ninth session of Harvard Model United Nations, India 2019 at Hyderabad from 15th - 18th August. A great platform where more than 1700 people participated from around the world, a Global crowd in which our students were a part of. All the 4 students represented the countries Canada and Tuvalu under the committees WHO, UNHCR and UNHRC. It was an amazing experience for our students to meet a number of delegates of other schools and countries. They got multiple opportunities to opine on the topics assigned to them. In each committee rooms, the students discussed their topics, raised motions, made working papers, formed blocks, drafted resolutions and suggested amendments.
There was a noticeable change in the students’ demeanor as they opened debate. Shedding their nervousness and donning a professional and serious manner, they transformed into delegates. At this conference, the students learned about the coming together to achieve the common goal in the true spirit of the United Nations. Besides this, HMUN conference instituted to train students on public-speaking, debate, diplomacy, persuasive writing, problem-solving, leadership qualities and teamwork. Act to Impact projects were also displayed which aroused the interest in students to contribute in all possible ways to the living planet.
The exclusive programs organized for the Faculty Advisors like the WIRED sessions on 'Decoding Gen-Z', 'A Teacher's perspective: Being Good to Great', session with Coca- Cola were very informative and the Faculty Advisor tour to Charminar, Shilparamam, Ikea and the special dinner with the organizers of HMUN were interesting and delightful. This event emerged as a tool of developing holistic understanding of the world around them.
